The Bible tells us God is loving and kind. He sent his only Son, Jesus, to save the world from sin. But is God really loving and kind? How do we understand the seeming cruelty of God, who asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac? How do we understand a seemingly unjust God, who accepted Abel’s offering, but rejected Cain’s? Is this the God who loves us? How can we love and trust such a God? Does God care what happens to us? Are Nations under His control? What happens to a Nation that turns it's back on God? Are there signs of a falling Nation?

There are answers to these questions, and more. Stories from the Old Testament of what looks like God’s cruelty and unjustness on the surface are examined deeply to reveal God’s presence and purpose. The words of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament are highlighted as proof of God’s love and kindness. We are told to pray. Does prayer make any difference? How do I find time for prayer? In this 2nd edition Coleman offers us more stories from his own life to illuminate how he has experienced God's love.

We are invited to go on a journey to understand who this God is, and to live in that reality. In a world of turmoil and pain Coleman describes the problem and presents a hope.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

WAYNE J. COLEMAN, B.A., B.R.S., M.Div

Wayne J. Coleman is an ordained minister, and was a pastor for thirteen years. He graduated from the University of Winnipeg, MBBC (CMU) Manitoba, and Acadia Divinity College in Nova Scotia. He has military experience, has worked as a miner in Thompson, Manitoba. He was a broker with FedEx, and owned a UPS Store. He retired from Canada Post. His variety of experiences and training gives him a good understanding of the thoughts and feelings of people's struggles. His understanding of the Bible enables him to look at our chaotic world to point people to wholeness and hope. In his book Who Is This God: A Journey of Faith will give you an understanding of this person we call God. His personal stories and struggles helps to make this topic come alive. Coleman enjoys reading and woodworking. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with his wife Deborah.
